Not only is Highway 65 (also known as State Route 65) a pathway that extends
from Bakersfield, California, to Porterville and up as far as Lindsey,
California, it is also the name of one of Kern County's hottest new Bluegrass
groups. United in December 2009, the members of Highway 65, Ron
Hibdon, guitar and vocals, Kelvin Gregory,
mandolin and vocals, Roy Nelson, banjo, Dee
Gregory, bass, and Ernie Lewis,
fiddle, dobro and vocals, share
over 185 years of musical experience. Together, their rich, hard-driving instrumentation
and fine detail to harmony create a lively blend of cutting-edge Bluegrass.
Thus far, the band has opened for Special Consensus and Doyle Lawson &
Quicksilver (see the Photo section) and has played numerous gigs in Bakersfield,
CA. Be sure to catch Highway 65 in concert for a fun
and memorable time. Please check out the band's
schedule and
enjoy the group's music online.
You can also keep contact with the members on
Facebook. |
